Indonesia Water QCCQ
Water is a human right and Constitutional right
Quote
"All vital sources of production those essential for the lives of the people must be controlled by the state."
Comment
I completely disagree with the idea that any state should have control over the source of what allows the people to live. This, I think, is another way of enforcing a kind of slavery because if the state controls the water and food of its people, that state can practically force its people to do anything that the state wants.
Connection
I currently live in an area that has a somewhat decent control over my resources. In fact, it's the same source that has control everyone's resources that are necessary for living and I am sure that there are many others that feel the same way.
Question
Has there been anybody that tried to make a stand against the power that has control over their life's necessities?
The Dominant Policy Approach On The Right to Water
Quote
"Water is a common good, one of the basic public goods. At Suez, we are opposed to the private ownership of water resources precisely because, in our eyes, water is not a commodity."
Comment
Water is indeed a "common good" but the idea of someone "privately" owning a source of water is absurd. Water is one of nature's finest sources that gives us, the people, life. No one person truly owns water because it rightfully belongs to the planet.
Connection
My life, as well as everyone else, revolves around having available water and if someone were to own the water, they pretty much would own everyone else.
Question
Why would people see water as a non-commodity?
The Fights for the Right to Water
Quote
“It’s sure that the state takes the side of the industry!"
Comment
Since when does the state choose the people over the industry? Having power is all about having money and lots of it. The industries make money for the state and it makes perfect sense for the state to defend its "source of power."
Connection
Power is something that everyone wants by any means necessary. I think that the people shouldn't have to fear a reigning power such as a state but at the same time have boundaries and limits as to how far they concern themselves with business.
Question
Are the industries for the people, for the higher power, or for itself?

My Watershed
I live within San Diego and my house gets its fresh water from the San Diego River Watershed.Th sources of water in this particular watershed include the Lake Murray, El Capitan Reservoir, San Vincente Reservoir, Boulder Creek, and the Santee Lakes. Like everyone else in San Diego, my tap water comes from one of the sources; Northern California, The Colorado River, of Rainwater. The waste water goes through the sewers, through pipes, and eventually ends up going through the Point Loma Waste Water Plant.

"Beets In The Hood"
Quote
"Everybody just says,'Oh I can't grow organic food cheaper', but we don't have to pay $10 a pound for food-I charge $2 a pound and make money. You could be a millionaire."
Question
If someone were to grow their own crops to sell, wouldn't they need to spend money on maintaining a healthy garden? Possibly more money than they would receive.
Comment
I think that it is a good idea to grow your own food. It can somewhat save money and the experiences of growing your own food can teach you a lot.
"Michael Pollan Fixes Dinner"
Quote
"I was so surprised that those diseases that we take for granted as what will kill us- heart disease, cancer,diabetes-were virtually unknown 150 years ago, before we started eating this way."
Question
If someone ate something 150 years ago and died from it, didn't anyone wonder why and investigate?
Comment
150 years ago, no one knew too much about the diseases that were contained within some foods. Still not all foods carry a life threatening disease. In fact there are some that help to prevent these ailments.

Quote
"Meat is such an obvious delivery device for protein that bodybuilders often use the two words interchangeably."
Question
Is meat the biggest distributor of protein?
Comment
I agree that meat is indeed an excellent source of protein. But eating too much surely cannot be good.

Plants For Bulk Growth
Chard
The first plant that I would suggest growing in "bulk" is Swiss Chard. I say this because it is high in many vitamins including vitamins A, K, and C; which is necessary for maintaining strong bones and teeth. It also is rich in minerals, protein, and dietary fiber. To sow chard, a trench measuring 2.5cm deep and the spacing between the seeds needs to be about 8cm apart. Then cover, water, and label. Swiss Chard is a type of vegetable whose leaves are always green with a stem that varies in color. It is a cool weather vegetable that can take from 1-2 weeks for germination and up to 2 months to grow to be harvested. Considering how early into the semester, there is plenty of time in the semester to produce chard. The rows for chard should be spaced apart up to 45cm and each individual seed should be 1-1.5cm apart, placed 1/2in deep. A thin seedling must be spread from 8-12 inches apart. The leaves can be picked 3 inches after they've grown but must be done before the leaves reach 10 inches. Chard grows the best in well-drained soil rich in organic matter and in soil containing a pH level of 6.0-6.8. It needs to be evenly moist for quick, tender growth.Lettuce
Lettuce is a type of leaf vegetable. It is a good source of vitamin A and potassium, which is used for maintaining blood pressure, maintaining regularity in the contractions and relaxation of the muscles, prevention of cramping of the muscles, and since potassium functions as an electrolyte, it maintains the electrical conductivity of the brain, and impacts the brain function. It is also plays a vital role in enhancing the higher brain functions like memory and learning. Lettuce can be grow during anytime since it has adapted to cooler temperatures. It can survive warmer temperatures such as 80 degrees but it is required that the nights be cool. It takes 2-3 months for lettuce to grow depending on when it is planted. Looking at the time left in the semester, it could be pretty risky. It could be a possibility that the semester could be over before the lettuce has become ready for harvesting. Germination occurs between 40-80 degrees Fahrenheit. Spacing between the lettuce varies depending on the kind of lettuce. For Leaf lettuce types; 6” apart with 12” rows. For Iceberg lettuce; 12” apart with 18” row spacing. For Romaine lettuce; 8-10” apart with 12-16”. Lettuce favors an area with full sun to partial shade and a soil pH of 6.2-6.8. It is a heavy feeder and prefers a rich, well cultivated soil with good drainage.Plant Response
While observing and inspecting the soil and the vegetation, it is possible to see not only aracnids but, microlife as well. Organisms such as certain types of bacteria, potozoa, nematodes, and various types of arthopods. Some of the creatures and fungi work together to help improe the quality of the soil. While the other creatures would them as a source of food. After the compost is mixed in the soil, I think that soil will become mineral rich meaning that it will contain a lot of minerals that will help the plants to grow. But at the same time there are a few limitations. For example, specific fruits and vegetables require a set methood of sowing and watering. Spacing is another limitation that falls at hand. For something to grow properly, it must have enough room to grow, plenty of sunlight, plenty of water, and sometimes may require a specific level of acidity in the soil. Limitaions as such could prove to be a problem if sed requirements are not met.
